GiGi the Great Horned Owl Embraces her Rescuer

In May, 2016, GiGi, a great horned owl was rescued by the Wild Heart at Rescue Group in Vancleave,  Mississippi. When her rescuer, Doug Pojecky, returned from a trip, she couldn’t stop hugging him!

Doug Pojecky had nursed GiGi back to health after she had a head injury from running into a car.

GiGi was recently released back into the wild.

In addition to being featured on social media, the story and picture of GiGi and Doug Pojecky were featured in Country Living Magazine. Their story shows that even birds have feelings and show gratitude.
