Coffee giant Dunkin’ (formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts) CEO David Hoffmann recently confirmed at a shareholder meeting that Dunkin’ is working on a vegan doughnut!Rachel Pawelski, Senior Campaigns Coordinator for Animal Outlook, asked during the meeting if Dunkin’ would be bringing vegan doughnuts.
“As it relates to a vegan doughnut, we continue to investigate a viable vegan doughnut option. We are looking at it closely,” the CEO responded.
“You’re going to continue to see us put more consumer [choices] on the menu.”
Animal Outlook has been urging Dunkin’ for years to add vegan options. They even launched a petition, which has gathered over 21,600 signatures to date. Their goal is to reach 25,000 signatures.
The organization feels very grateful that Dunkin’ is considering vegan consumers.
“If it’s possible to make delicious doughnuts without using cruelly produced animal products, why not do it? It’s a win-win-win for Dunkin, the animals, and consumers around the country,” said Pawelski.
The vegan population is increasing as more and more people become aware of the destruction caused by the meat and dairy industries – both on our health and on the planet. It’ll be crucial for businesses to pivot and create options that suit everybody’s dietary needs if they want to increase business profitability.
