Last week, a vegan and cruelty-free makeup brand, called Velvet 59, opened its flagship store in Aliso Viejo, CA.
22-year old Paris Manning, the founder of Velvet 59, opened this store with one thought in mind: her mission of “capturing vintage glamour from a bygone era and bringing it to the modern world, while sourcing sustainable, 100 percent vegan ingredients that also give back to the community.”
Ms. Manning is getting her inspiration from icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.
Some products featured at Velvet 59 include lipsticks, glosses, contouring palettes, mascara and eyeshadows. In fact, some of their creamy lipsticks are named after California destinations, such as Coral Canyon and PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).
So far, the products have been a hit! People – including celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey – are loving this beauty store’s products! In addition, every single one of the products sold at Velvet 59 are “Meiling Approved,” which means that Ms. Manning’s dog, Meiling, appreciates the fact that the products are cruelty-free and sticks to Ms. Manning’s standard that, “animals are gifts for us to appreciate and take care of.”
Vegan beauty is growing as many brands have shown their support towards cruelty-free beauty this year. It started with Kat Von D‘s decision to transform her beauty line into an all-vegan line, followed by The Body Shop, who added a vegan eyeshadow palette and ColourPop, who launched a line of vegan lipstick.
Velvet 59 will be hosting special makeup certification classes with industry professionals, who will be acting as guest teachers. To catch up on all the dates, follow Velvet 59 on Instagram (@velvet59).
