The Cambridge Satchel Company is collaborating with Melissa, a Brazilian eco-friendly shoe brand, to come up with an alternative to leather bags.
These leather-free bags are made out of Melflex, a 100% recyclable, hypoallergenic and odorless material. Not only are these bags environmentally-friendly, but they are also vegan!
This is the first time in the history of The Cambridge Satchel Company that they have come up with a leather-free item.
This is also a great advancement in the vegan fashion industry. There are many brands that offer vegan bags, such as Gunas – who specializes in luxury vegan hand bags – and Stella McCartney, whose brand is very popular amongst vegans and vegetarians alike.
Even luxury brands, such as Armani, have decided to make some ethical changes. Earlier this year, Armani announced that they will no longer be using fur for their clothing, starting with their Fall/Winter 2016 collection.
