If you’re a college student studying in the United States, a huge opportunity could be coming your way!
Fashion designer Stella McCartney has teamed up with animal rights organization, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and investment firm Stray Dog Capital to present college students in the US with the opportunity of a lifetime: a biodesign challenge.
Students and scientists will come together to create a provable concept for vegan wool. The material also has to be sustainable to meet challenge requirements. Students will also have to thoroughly explain the textile’s lifecycle from production to the recycling process.
The prize is even better! The winners will receive the very first PETA Prize for Animal-Free Wool, as well as a chance to spend up to two weeks at McCartney’s headquarters in London, UK to learn from the designer.
This challenge presents the ethical and sustainable future of the fashion industry. McCartney is a leader in sustainable design as she works towards reducing our negative impact on the environment by using ethical and eco-friendly materials.
