If there’s one place that could benefit from a few more vegan options, it’s Starbucks.
But they’re on the right track now that they have launched gluten-free, vegan cupcakes in locations around South Florida after partnering with Miami-based bakery Bunnie Cakes.
“Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, owner Mariana Cortez started Bunnie Cakes after two of her children were born with celiac disease and she was not able to find treats for their birthdays,” Starbucks wrote in a press release. She then started Bunnie Cakes, which has been recognized for its treats.
“I have to pinch myself to believe it,” Cortez told Latest Vegan News, “I am extremely happy and proud of this accomplishment, we were chosen to be the only local partner among many other regular bakeries and desserts. This proves to me that we are changing the way we see things, the way we eat. Years ago I couldn’t find a vegan cake for my son in Miami, today we are partnering with one [of] the biggest businesses in the U.S., a dream come true.”
The passionfruit vegan cupcakes retail for $2.50 a piece and are expected to hit more stores in the future.
