Starbucks is Finally Going to Carry Almond Milk

Vegans, it’s time to rejoice! After years of demanding, vegans can now enjoy their Starbucks drinks with almond milk, as of September 6, 2016.

Almost 100,000 people voted to add this delicious drink to Starbucks’ menu of milk alternatives. Now, Starbucks fans all across the U.S – including the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, New York, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions – can order their drinks with almond milk. After all, non-dairy milk is one of their “most-requested ideas of all time.”

Approximately 4,600 Starbucks locations will be introduced to this new drink, made specially by Starbucks. It will be called “almondmilk”.

“We created our almondmilk recipe to complement our hot, iced and Frappuccino blended beverages,” said Yoke Wong, the manager of the Starbucks beverage R&D team, in a statement. “It was designed so that when steamed, it creates a rich foam for hot beverages and is delicious and creamy when served in cold beverages.”

So far, the only vegan milk alternatives at Starbucks have been soy milk, launched in 2004, and coconut milk, which was launched in 2015. However, their dairy-free menu has not been as popular since the soy milk contains carrageenan. Hopefully, more vegans will walk into one of the thousands of Starbucks’ locations to try a drink made with “almondmilk”.

In addition, Starbucks introduced a new signature drink made with coconut milk called Iced Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato over the summer. It has been a hit!

At the end of the day, the addition of almond milk was a smart move for Starbucks, as many people were demanding that they expand their dairy-free milk options. With menu changes underway, more people will soon be able to enjoy Starbucks drinks!
