Are you a vegan or a want-to-turn vegan looking to immerse into the plant-based world? Mark your calendars, since a famous culinary school in the UK is debuting their first vegan cookery classes.
Within the next year, you can participate in one-day workshops at Leiths School of Food and Wine.
While their first autumn session (October 18) is sold out, there are a few other dates to keep in mind: November 4, 2017, January 6, 2018 and April 10, 2018.
The workshop features a day of cooking with one of Leiths’ expert chefs, and promises you’ll leave with a better understanding of how to recreate classic recipes that use animal ingredients, without missing out on taste.
Participants will also learn a range of skills that can be used in daily life, or even mastered at dinner parties.
“We’ve noticed a definite surge in the demand for nutritional knowledge combined with practical cookery skills over the past few years, which led to the launch of our Nutrition in Practice course,” Camilla Schneideman, managing director of Leiths, told Metro.co.uk.
“Committing to a fully plant-based diet can be very difficult initially; there’s a lot to consider in order to ensure that you are completely nourished and deficiency-free. Our first fully vegan class, The Essential Vegan, is designed to guide people through that initial transition, making it less daunting.”
Each class is four-and-a-half hours long from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm and costs £155 per person. The menu will most likely include:
- Vegetable stock from scratch
- Egg-free mayonnaise
- Broccoli pesto
- Dairy-free cheese sauce
- Beef bourguignon
- Risotto
- Quick chickpea curry
- Tempeh skewers with spiced coriander chutney
- Chocolate mousse with tahini biscuits
