When a brand announces they are either adding vegan products or going all-vegan, vegans can’t do anything but jump for joy. Recently, not one, but TWO shoe brands announced that they are adding vegan shoes to meet the high demand for cruelty-free and sustainable fashion.

Birkenstock and PONS Avarcas are leaders in the footwear industry with their iconic sandals. Birkenstock already had a line of vegan shoes; however, they have decided to expand it, now offering over 60 pairs of animal leather-free sandals for people of all ages and genders.

In addition, PONS by Avarcas USA recently launched its first line of vegan footwear after realizing their potential market.

Handcrafted in Spain, PONS are usually made with leather. Now, you can buy beautiful Spanish shoes that are not only comfortable, but cruelty-free, as well. There’s no compromise!

According to Avarcas USA founders Noelia Pahissa and Jose Fuentes, the line is partially a result of some changes they are experiencing themselves

“The new collection reflects some of the changes we’re making at home such as introducing a plant-based diet and being more ecologically responsible,” Pahissa told VegNews. “In addition, we saw a demand for vegan avarcas in the US market.”

The vegan avarcas currently come in four colours, black, grey, brown, and taupe, and are part of “the beginning of something big,” according to Pahissa.
