Brooklyn’s first vegan pizzeria opened on June 13, 2016.
The all-vegan Champs Diner joined with Blackbird Pizzeria, the famous Philadelphia-based vegan pizza-joint, to open up the new all-vegan Screamers Pizzeria.
In an interview with PIX11, co-owner of Screamers Pizzeria, Brad Baker, stated how his pizzeria differs from others that serve vegan options.
“Other pizzerias have some vegan slices, but we don’t have animal products on the premises.”
Screamers Pizzeria not only offers all-vegan pizza, but they also make some of their own alternatives for meat and cheese.
In the same interview with PIX11, Brad Baker stated: “Our cheese is made from tapioca and coconut oil. The sausage from wheat gluten and spices.”
Some other ingredients used include broccoli rabe, caramelized onions, avocado, kale pesto and other meat and cheese alternatives, like almond ricotta, vegan ham and vegan sausage.
