Vegan figure skater Meagan Duhamel and her partner, Eric Radford, recently took home two medals for Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The pair first won a gold medal, which put Canada at the top of the event. People described their performance as “flawless,” as almost every single move was executed perfectly.

After a short break, they also took home a bronze medal. It was an amazing moment for Duhamel, considering she and her partner earned 7th place at the Sochi Olympic Games.

“All of last season was disappointment after disappointment after disappointment,” Meagan said. “This year I don’t think we ever felt disappointed or lost. I think we felt we were on a mission… I couldn’t have dreamed it that much better, I could have dreamed it without my hands down on the triple Lutz, but we came to the Olympics and just delivered four amazing performances.”

Duhamel has been vegan since 2008 and will be retiring after this season. During her career as a skater, she has become seven-time Canadian National Champion in pairs skating, two-time World Champion figure skater, as well as an Olympic Gold Medalist. She also rescued a dog from the Korean dog meat trade while she was at the event.
