Pret A Manger has signed their first franchise agreement to open locations on university campuses in the United States.
The British-based food chain will debut three outlets by mid-September through a partnership with Bon Appétit Management Company (BAMCO).
“Choosing the right partners is important for Pret and we really admire Bon Appétit’s values and operational strengths,” said Pret’s US president Jo Brett.
The company opened two shops at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania on August 28, and is opening a location at the University of Chicago on September 14.
“Our menu of freshly made food to go is perfect for students juggling a busy academic lifestyle, and I’m sure our organic coffee will also be very popular on campus,” Brett continued. “Pret is a natural choice for students looking for fresh and nutritious food and we hope these three new university shops are the first of many.”
Thousands of students will be able to walk into one of Pret’s university campus locations and try healthy foods that will hopefully motivate young students to live a healthier lifestyle.

Pret A Manger has a wide range of vegan options on their menu, and they’ve also opened two of their veggie locations in London, called Veggie Pret. Up to date, their locations in the US can be found in New York, Chicago, IL, Boston, MA and Washington, DC.
