Great news, vegans! A plant-based cafe is opening soon in Birmingham city centre.

As a result of an increase in demand for plant-based foods, Fressh decided to open in Victorian City Arcade. It will serve a wide range of plant-based foods to attract more than just vegans.

“For this business to work we need to be serving everyone, not just vegans,” said Fressh owner Vijay Singh. “So we want people to come in, close their eyes and say: ‘Yes… that tastes really nice.'”

Fressh boasts a modern vibe with white walls all around. The menu features a variety of plant-based dishes from smoothie bowls to veggie wraps.

“I think people are now more receptive to eating plant-based food,” Singh added.

“We’ve kept the menu choice limited to improve quality – because we are making everything from scratch we can’t offer too many choices so when we start breakfasts there will be eight items.

“But whether people eat meat or not I would hope that everyone wants to try eating at Fressh, just to see how tasty that kind of food can be.”

According to Singh, they will not be using any “mock” meats as these are processed. Their organic coffee will also be Direct Trade, rather than the usual Fairtrade.

Fressh will open on October 21, 2017 at 11:00 am, and breakfast will be served as of October 30. Regular hours will be: 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (Monday – Friday) and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturdays.

Fressh is hoping to expand to another location in the near future as the demand for plant-based food grows.
