Have you ever heard your friends say, “Never in a million years would I go vegan!” Well, this is true until something makes them realize that veganism is the way to live.

Whether it is because of animal abuse or the health risks associated with eating animal products, there are a variety of reasons regarding why people choose to go vegan. No matter who you ask, you will always get a different answer, and this is the focus of a new video series set in Miami.

Presented by local podcast Planted in Miami, the 31 Days. 31 Reasons. Why We Went Vegan project bases their series around the diversity of vegans in Miami. Viewers can explore a new video everyday throughout the month of January and listen to 31 stories from local vegans.

“In January, people are inspired to make new year’s resolutions, and they are usually focused on changing their diet,” Planted in Miami co-founder Alex Ruiz told Miami New Times. “We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to have people from all walks of life share their stories of why they went vegan in hopes of inspiring others to make the change in 2017.”

According to Ruiz, they really wanted to showcase the different ages, races and religions to “break the preconceived ideas of what a vegan looks like.”

There are also many misconceptions regarding how a vegan acts like, which is also based on old stereotypes. However, founders Alex and Jeanette Ruiz are hoping that this video series will not only be informative, but inspirational as well.
