Los Angeles is Getting a Vegan German Beer Garden and Restaurant

Get ready for something new Los Angeles, since German Matthias Brandt is planning on opening a vegan German beer garden.

The Eastsider reports: “Matthias Brandt, a native of Germany now living in Glassell Park, is in the process of getting city approvals to open a German restaurant with outdoor beer garden in the 4900 block of York.”

The big idea is to serve German beer and house-made vegan versions of German foods. Brandt is planning on setting this all up in a large, 2,100-square-foot space named “Hinterhof” with 123 seats, in which 36 will be outdoors and 87 will be indoors.

“We are naming the space Hinterhof, after the inner courtyards of residential pre-war apartment buildings in Berlin,” Brandt said in an email. “These spaces are where Berliners casually meet with their neighbours in the evenings and on weekends to eat, drink and catch up.”

The name fits the concept perfectly, and this is the first concept of its kind in the world of restaurants.

If everything goes as planned, Los Angeles residents will be able to visit this restaurant by the end of this year.
