France to Install CCTV Cameras in Slaughterhouses

SHARE

France’s parliament recently voted to install CCTV cameras in all 263 slaughterhouses across the country after several undercover investigations conducted by local animal rights group L214 took place, revealing how slaughterhouse workers have been mistreating animals in abattoirs.

According to Metro.co.uk: “If the law passes, the authorities would install video cameras in all areas of the abattoir where live animals are handled.

“This means there would be surveillance during transport, stabling and stunning.”

This move is set to take place on January 1, 2018 after the experimental phase ends this year.
