Alex Lambert, the head chef at Littleover Lodge Hotel in Derby, was fired after “bragging” on social media about secretly sneaking meat into vegan dishes.
This 30 year old chef said that is was one of his “personal “favourite” hobbies to sneak animal products into dishes ordered by vegans.
However, the story changed much later, as Mr. Lambert insisted that what he had posted was not true and that it was meant to annoy a vegan whom he had an argument with regarding eating meat.
Mr. Lambert told the vegan that “being vegan is a minority.” He also stated that she “should find a better way to spend your time, my personal favourite is feeding vegans animal products and them not knowing.”
The lady told him in return: “Hope you get caught one day, would love to see that. I know we’re not a minority and really don’t give a s— because that has no relevance. Enjoy the heart disease.”
Her wish came true, as all of this commotion resulted in negative comments being posted on social media, as well as people rating the hotel one star and asking that chef Lambert gets fired. People were even protesting in the lobby of the hotel. Lambert was suspended shortly after and was eventually fired from his job.
However, it appears that no evidence was found that Mr. Lambert was, in fact, sneaking meat into vegan dishes. According to Mail Online: “We have investigated all accusations against Mr. Lambert and found no evidence suggesting that any of these practices have taken place within this hotel.
“However, due to the comments made by Mr. Lambert regarding specific dietary requirements, the company has decided to terminate his employment which has been done forthwith.”
According to the hotel manager, Nicholas Crooks, the hotel has responded to every single negative review about the hotel stating that Mr. Lambert’s actions were “absolutely stupid”.
